Cyprus Airways receives world travel distinction

CYPRUS Airways has received a global distinction “that reflects the national airline’s prestige and quality on an international scale”, the airline said on Friday.

The competition, organised by APG World Connect, saw travel agents and tour operators from around the world vote for the airline they regarded as the friendliest and most flexible in its relationships with travel agents.

Cyprus Airways came in third place. Turkish Airlines took first place in the contest, with Air France-KLM second and Cyprus Airways third. Emirates followed in fourth place, with many other well-known airlines completing the field, Cyprus Airways said.

The World APG awards are based on the results of a questionnaire given to travel agents worldwide and include considerations such as:

a) the friendliest airline in its relationships with travel agents
b ) the airline most frequently recommended by travel agents
c ) the airline that communicates best with travel agents

Cyprus Airways wishes to warmly thank those Cypriot travel agents who obviously supported the airline by casting favourable votes.

“This award comes during difficult times for Cyprus Airways but provides added incentive to move forward with reforms that will put the airline on a stable course of development,” a statement from the company said.

The award ceremony will be shortly in Washington.
