AKEL opposition party has launched an all-out attack on the government, directly accusing it of political intrique.

AKEL Secretary General Andros Kyprianou said the presidential palace is following a path of national dissent similar to that followed by right wing parties during the junta coup that preceded the Turkish invasion in 1974.

He said that the government is trying to undermine AKEL and draw attention away from crucial problems the country is facing.

Kyprianou also told a meeting of left wing trade unionists that the government is on the wrong track concerning the handling of the Cyprus problem and the economy..

He personally accused president Anastasiades of continuously telling lies on a series of issues especially when refering to the country’s economy being stabilised.
