US citizen of Cypriot origin to be elected as member of New York City Council
An American citizen of Cypriot origin will be elected for the first time as member of the New York City Council.
Despite the fact that Greek American John Catsimatides was not nominated as Republican candidate for the municipal elections in November, an other member of the diaspora, of Cypriot origin, Kostas Konstantinides, is expected to be elected as member of the NY City Council.
Konstantinides, whose origins are from the village of Asgata in Cyprus, will be the first of Greek and Cypriot origin to be elected at the NY City Council.
