President Anastasiades holds conversation with US President
US President Barack Obama has thanked Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Cyprus for the country’s contribution and role for maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean region.
He also expressed his satisfaction with President Anastasiades’ efforts for the resumption of a well-prepared and substantive dialogue that will lead to a comprehensive and viable settlement of the Cyprus problem.
Obama and Anastasiades held a conversation during the reception which the US President hosted on Monday for the Heads of States and Governments on the occasion of the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
President Anastasiades also had, on the sidelines of the reception, a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry, who told the Cypriot President that he is willing and planning to pay a visit to Cyprus.
Kerry thanked President Anastasiades for the stabilizing role of Cyprus in the turbulent area of the Eastern Mediterranean.
