Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades continues his contacts in New York, in the sidelines of the 68th UN General Assembly.

On Wednesday the President had a meeting with the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas , with whom he discussed the Cyprus problem, bilateral relations and the Palestinian issue.

Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, Government Spokesman Christos Stylianides and Cyprus Permanent Representative to the UN Nicos Emiliou were present at the meeting.

Later on Wednesday, Cyprus President held a meeting with the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic with whom he discussed the Cyprus problem, European issues and bilateral relations.

In the evening , President Anastasiades attended a reception hosted by the EU, in the presence of European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, EC President Jose Manuel Barroso and  High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Katherine Ashton.

He also attended a dinner hosted by the Cyprus Federation in the US.

Today the President will address the UN General Assembly while on Friday he will be meeting with the US Vice President Joe Biden in Washington
