Policeman beaten up in Larnaca Hospital

Two men were arrested at Larnaca Hospital early on Saturday on suspicion of injuring a policeman who would not let them jump the queue to be examined by a doctor.
The policeman sustained foot injuries and underwent surgery. Police are examining a case of assaulting a police officer and intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The incident occurred around 1.00 am when two Greek Cypriots, residents of Kalo Chorio, went to the hospital because one of the two wanted to have his eyes examined.
He insisted on being examined first, and would not wait his turn. The policeman on duty tried to calm him down, when one of the two insulted and assauted him.
The policeman managed to arrest him, but his friend tried to stop him and was also arrested. The policeman suffered a torn Achilles heel and was operated on. One of the suspects is being held in Aradippou and the other in Kophinou police stations.
