To save money and help the poor there will be no tanks or armoured vehicles on display at the Independence Day parade.
Funds usually spent on the October 1st military parade to celebrate the independence of Cyprus will this year go towards feeding needy school children.
Defence Minister Fotis Fotiou yesterday announced that money spent on exhibiting tanks and other military hardware in the parade will instead be used to boost the government’s efforts to provide disadvantaged children with free breakfasts at school.
