Marcos was beaten in the second round of the Malaysian Open on Thursday, losing to No. 2 seed Stanislas Wawrinka 6-1, 7-5 in Kuala Lumpur.

Wawrinka is in the midst of a career-best season, having recently reached his first Grand Slam semi-final at the US Open. The Swiss, who is also looking to qualify for the year-end Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, won 76 per cent of his service points and broke Marcos three times as he claimed victory in 65 minutes.

Next up for Marcos on the Asian Swing is Tokyo, an ATP World Tour 500 hard-court tournament which begins next week.
