Marcos was beaten in the first round of the St. Petersburg Open on Tuesday, losing a tight match to fourth seed Dmitry Tursunov, 7-6(3), 7-6(3).

Neither player made a breakthrough on serve in the first set, which was won in the tie-break by Tursunov. The Russian looked set to close out victory when he served for the match twice at 5-2 in the second set, but Marcos fought back strongly to force a second tie-break. Tursunov regrouped well, though, and clinched victory in two hours.

Next up for Marcos is the three-week Asian swing. Marcos plays first at the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur, before travelling to Tokyo and finishing the swing at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai.
