Police who stopped a 16-year-old boy on his way to school on his moped found 12 smoke grenades in his bag instead of books.
He was stopped in Limassol at around 8am as part of a police campaign to prevent traffic accidents among young people. His pillion passenger ran off when they were stopped.
The moped belongs to another student who is sought for questioning.
As part of the safety campaign, which will continue throughout the week, five motorcycles have been seized, of which two were modified and three did not carry a registration plate.
