Inquest into death of Cypriot couple in North Finchley house fire is postponed

An inquest into the deaths of an elderly couple whose bodies were found following a house fire in North Finchley has been postponed until next year.

The bodies of Argyrios Siokos, 69, and his wife Chloe Siokos, 80, were discovered after firefighters were called to tackle a blaze at their semi-detached home in Fallow Court Avenue in January.

It took thirty firefighters two hours to bring the fire under control but the Cypriot couple were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later said Mrs Siokos had other injuries inconsistent with the fire being the cause of death and revealed Mr Siokos could have murdered her before starting the fire.

Mrs Siokos’ daughter Annabelle Bell was present at North London Coroners Court today with her husband Colin Bell.

They were represented by Frank Mullae, an advocate from the charitable organisation Advocacy after Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFD).

Speaking in court he said: “It may be shown an inaction of a body may have raised risk to Mrs Siokos.”

The name of the said organisation will not be revealed until the full inquest is heard.

A pre inquest hearing will be held in January next year and three days have been set for the inquest to be heard, starting on Tuesday, July 29.
