If the American television commercial with John Stamos doesn’t persuade you, maybe the high protein count will clinch the sale. Between the celebrity sex appeal and the nutrition, it’s no wonder Greek-style yogurt is growing in popularity.

Greek-style yogurt, which has tangy flavor, thicker consistency and higher protein content than other varieties, accounts for one-third of total yogurt sales, according to a 2012 dairy trend survey from the Institute of Food Technologists.

In fact, for a yogurt variety that was relatively unknown a decade ago, Greek-style yogurt is now taking up serious real estate in the dairy case.

In the UK we have the Cypriot owned company Tim’s Dairy with their own brand of Greek style yogurt they had a recent marketing campaign ‘Classic Greek Style’ with inspirational top London Greek Chef Theodore Kyriakou, who considers the Greek style yogurts the best this side of the Aegean, gained regional and national prominence in press and media and helped raised the profile of the range.

Tims Dairy has built a brand that people feel they can trust, with delicious tasting yogurts made with fresh natural ingredients and using British milk and cream. The company is particularly proud of its Greek heritage and the authentic taste of the Greek style yogurts. The Greek style natural yogurt and Greek style with honey are the range’s best sellers.  The Tims Dairy Greek style yogurts are a fantastic ingredient for cooking, a fabulously healthy alternative to cream and include the unique flavour offerings in the market of Raspberry and Blackcurrant.

New product development is being driven forward with two new sku’s of delicious Greek style vanilla yogurt in 450g and 175g, recently launched and which will boost the range’s potential even further.

Tims Dairy has been making fantastic great tasting yogurts for over 60 years. Still privately owned and based in their dairy facility in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, the company was founded by Euripides Nicolaou and his partner Michael Timotheou in central London in the 1940’s.  “We pride ourselves on our skill and long standing tradition in making great tasting products” says Chris Timotheou Managing Director of Tims Dairy.

The range is widely available in independent retail outlets, farm shops, delicatessens and supermarkets, including selected Asda and Waitrose branches, Whole Foods Market, selected Budgens stores and online at Ocado.
