Cyprus job scam
Hundreds of unemployed Cypriots are said to have fallen victim to a scam by a Greek Larnaca businessman who tricked them into paying him to find them jobs in a French company.
When they landed in France, after paying the sum of €650 each for placement in a French company, they realised that the company did not even exist.
The businessman allegedly opened the recruitment agency office in Larnaca promising unemployed Cypriots jobs, for the amount of €1,250.
He received a deposit of €650 from each one and used the money to send the 75 unemployed to France, who arrived in Lille to find that there was no job or company.
The victims are now trying to find ways to return to Cyprus as they have run out of money.
