Traffic police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in Winchmore Hill in the early hours of Saturday morning, 24 August.

Police were called shortly before 03:30hrs to reports of a collision on Green Lanes, N21 near the junction with Aldermans Hill.

Officers attended and found a black BMW 3 series had been in collision with a green Ford Galaxy mini-cab and a route 29 bus.

The driver of the mini-cab, a man aged in 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are in the process of ensuring all next of kin have been informed.

A post mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

The driver of the BMW was taken to an east London hospital. He remains in hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening. He was arrested in connection with the collision and street bailed until early September.

A passenger in the mini-cab, a man in his 40s, was taken to a north London hospital for treatment and later discharged.

There were no reports of any other persons injured.

The Road Death Investigation Unit (RDIU) at Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage is conducting enquiries into the circumstances of the collision.
