Cypriots and foreigners residing on the island will have the opportunity to fly directly to Vienna with the low cost “Flyniki” airline, as of January 31 next year.
A Hermes Airports press release issued here on Wednesday announced the twice a week scheduled flights, on Mondays and Saturdays. The airline is expected to add a third flight on 31 March 2014 on Wednesdays.
This is the first time that Fkyniki has included Cyprus in its flight schedule, the press release points out.
“We welcome Flyniki and are confident that the traveling public will be delighted with both the affordable prices and the high level of service provided, as well as with the multiple options for corresponding flights offered by their network via Vienna Airport”, Hermes Airports CEO Wes Porter said.
It is also noted that Flyniki’s presence in Cyprus will have a positive impact on attracting tourists not only from Austria, but also from neighbouring countries.
The relatively small distance separating Vienna from big cities in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Germany is expected to be a good practical option for tourists residing in these countries to connect with Cyprus, the press release ads.
At the same time, travelers from Cyprus now have an alternative option to fly to major cities at low prices and benefit from the Flyniki connecting flights via Vienna.
This development was the result of concerted efforts of Hermes Airports, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation and various other stakeholders in the tourist industry and proves that collective effort and hard work can yield remarkable results which can boost tourism and stimulate the economy of Cyprus at this very difficult period of time, the press release concludes.
