Happy birthday to Karolina

Karolina Pelendritou was born August the 25th 1986 in Limassol  Cyprus and is the darling of Cyprus sport

Cypriot Paralympic swimmer Karolina Pelendritou recently won first place at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Swimming Championships in Montreal.

Pelendritou won the gold medal in the 100 m breaststroke event, breaking her own new world record which she set at the London Paralympics with a time – 1:16.10.

She previously won the World Championship in 2010

Karolina has won countless gold medals and smashed handfuls of records in national and international games as well as winning 2 Gold medals, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze in 3 consecutive Paralympic Games, Athens, Shanghai and London. Due to her countless achievements she is known as the “Princess of the Pool”.

Karolina was the first (living) person to ever appear on a national Cypriot stamp in 2004. She has promoted the work of various EU initiatives throughout the years, currently holding the title of ambassador for the “Youth On The Move” initiative since 2010.
