Haringey Borough in FA cup today
This afternoon Haringey Borough who have a Cypriot Chairman and manager Akis Achilleos and Tom Loizou respectively. welcome very familiar visitors – AFC HAYES – to Coles Park,White Hart Lane, London N17 7JP at 3pm for a contest which will decide who enters the First Qualifying Round of the “FA Cup with Budweiser” where a visit to Ware (Ryman Division 1 North) or Wembley (Combined Counties Premier) will be the winners reward as well as the financial prize.
AFC Hayes as such have been here before only to participate in a couple of pre-season friendlies but in their previous manifestation as Brook House we played them every season from 1988/99, when they were promoted to the top Division of the Spartan League, up to and including 2003/04, when as Runners-up of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division they were promoted to the Ryman League after two season in which they were switched to the Southern League (now known as the Calor League) in which they participate at Level 4 of the Pyramid in its Division One Central. And during that period Cup draws had a habit of throwing us together quite frequently to add to the 32 League encounters so this will be around the 40th competitive encounter. There will be neither extra time nor penalty shoot out today if the scores are level after 90 minutes with any replay scheduled for next Tuesday at their Farm Park Stadium. If no replay is necessary then if no replay Haringey Borough will visit Clapton’s Old Spotted Dog ground for a League match on Tuesday evening provided that Clapton are similarly replay free – they are entertaining Mildenhall Town of the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League
