The former King of Greece Constantine is selling his house in Chobham, Surrey, where he moved with his family in 1967 after being expelled by the junta. The asking price is 6.42 million euros, about $8.58 million. The house has five reception rooms, 10 bedrooms, six bathrooms, a big terrace and a heated swimming pool, a tennis court, a meadow for horses and an orchard of 32 acres. It was built in 1883 and is located in the highest point of the region, offering a spectacular view in a purely British environment, with trees and ponds and is close to Eton College and the Ascot racecourse.

The interior has impressive fireplaces, a billiard room with wood-paneled walls, a garage for three cars and special rooms for parties. The British newspaper Sunday times, which published the selling ad, refers to Constantine as the “exiled King of Greece” who resorted in this house in 1967, when the military coup occurred in Greece. It was there that he learned in December 1974 that the Greeks decided in a referendum that they didn’t want him to return. He hasn’t lived in the house for a long time.

The former King is building a vacation home in Porto Heli, Greece, which explains his decision to sell.
The house is being sold “as is”, fully equiped.
