Sir Paul McCartney tops musicians’ rich list

Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has topped the Sunday Times Rich List of musicians with the £680m fortune he shares with his wife, Nancy Shevell.

Sir Paul, whose American heiress wife is said to be worth £150m, has topped each list since 1989 when he was worth an estimated £80m.

Andrew Lloyd Webber was second, with £620m, while Irish rock band U2 were third, with £520m.

The full list will be published by the newspaper on Sunday 21 April.

Victoria Beckham, who shares an estimated £200m fortune with husband David, makes the top 10.

Rocker Ozzy Osbourne and TV personality wife Sharon also feature as does Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, who shares his fortune with film star wife Gwyneth Paltrow

The five members of One Direction have racked up a £5 million fortune each in the last year, and combined earnings of £25m.

Harry Styles and co, who were put together on ‘The X Factor’, stormed the United States in 2012 with their debut album ‘Up All Night’.

But they still have a way to go before they catch Adele, who tops the Young Music Rich List with a fortune of £30 million.

The singer made £10 million in the last year despite taking much of it off to recover from a throat operation and have a baby, according to researchers from the Sunday Times Rich List.

Cheryl Cole‘s fortune is estimated at £14 million, while Leona Lewis and Katie Melua are both worth £12 million.

Florence Welch is worth £9 million.

New entries to the list of music millionaires aged 30 and under include Emeli Sande and Ed Sheeran, who are each worth £5 million.
