Second Division

Livadia 9 KLN 0

Newly formed Livadia in their first season have taken the second division by surprise an exciting team with lots of goals to show for it seventy five goals in all. It’s unfair to pick an outstanding player they all played their part a well organised and disciplined team that got better and better as the season progressed. A great feat for the manager Nick Demetriades and his assistant Jeff Ali and the fervent support and backing from Georgethe secretary and the founder Michael Economides to win the Second division championship.

This game was going to be decisive for both teams Livadia to win the second division championship and for Cyprus Youth to stay in the promotion race.

In the end it was a comfortable win for Livadia they took an early lead in the 8th minute when Elia crossed the ball for Richard Strickland to tap the ball into a empty Cyprus Youth net.

Minutes later the KLN goal keeper Max Papacosta pulled off a great save from a Adem Ali shot.

Livadia struck again in the 20th minute when a long ball from Ben abled Matt Demetriades to get a touch in between opposing two players and goal keeper to push the ball into an open net. Minutes later Livadia were awarded a penalty which Adem Ali missed and the KLN captain Rio was sent off for the tackle on Elia that gave away the penalty.

In the 30th minute Cyprus Youth were down to nine men when another of their players was sent off.

This opened the door for Livadia to capitalise and goals came in plentiful with another from Matt, two from Leo Agathangelou, Elia Katsoulides 2, Adem Ali 2. One  of Adem,s was exceptional when he received the ball on the half way line then dribbled past three players before stroking the ball past the oncoming KLN keeper. Daniel also scored for Livadia a great championship win for them and credit to the nine Cyprus Youth players who stayed on the park and continuing to play football.

Omonia 4 Arachne 0

Omonia dominated a good game and went into the half time break 1-0 up thanks to a well taken goal by Mustafa Denizer after 27 minutes. A flick on from Yiannis was superbly controlled by Denizer who then slotted past the goalkeeper.

The second half saw Omonia increase their lead, again through Denizer. A quick break found Carvalho who squared to Denizer and his perfect lob doubled the home side’s lead. Denizer completed his hat-trick after Yiannis found him on the right side of the area and his hooked shot over his shoulder beat the ‘keeper. Alessandro Birri completed the scoring with a superb controlled volley to give Omonia every chance of promotion with three games left.

Pendayia 2 Pantel 2

Although these two teams had nothing to gain from this game they gave their all and it ended up an entertaining game with Pendayia scoring the first goal with Sammy Menari  thus taking a one nil lead into the break. Alexander equalised for Pantel Regis then gave Pantel  the lead with a well taken goal before Pendayia equalised ten minutes before the end with Dan.
