In a rearranged KOPA first division fixture AEL versus Apoel played at Brimsdown Stadium last night. Kyri Kyprianou was the hero for Apoel who left it till the last fifteen minutes to beat AEL 3-1.
AEL were deservedly winning from the middle of the first half with a goal from Rakim and it looked like it was going to finish like that with AEL really playing well. Kyri came up trumps for Apoel when they equalised in the 75th minute but even then AEL missed a good chance when their striker missed an open goal to retain the lead. It seemed that Apoel’s fitness came out on top and Kyri Kyprianou added another two goals to his credit to give him a hat trick and a 3-1 win over AEL.
Apoel are now second level on points with the leaders New Salamis but with an inferior goal difference.
