Lawyer Yiannakis Ioannou revealed on a Cypriot TV channel that the famous Cypriot singer Konstantina is going to take legal action against the Republic of Cyprus over bank deposits that will be confiscated as part of a government scheme to get international aid.

Up to 80 percent of deposits of more than 100,000 euros ($130,000) will be seized by the government to prevent a collapse of the banks and the country’s economy.

The popular singer, with some classic hits recognized both in Greece and Cyprus, kept all her money in banks in Cyprus and said she saw her lifetime efforts plundered within a day and claimed it was unlawful.

Konstantina Konstantinou was born and raised in Nicosia, but then decided in 1977, to relocate to Athens. Soon after her first collaborations with Giorgos Dalaras and Haris Alexiou she was getting more and more chances give live performances before an audience, acquire experiences as a singer and build her own reputation.

In 1983 Konstantina also represented Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest together with Stavros Sideras, with the song I Agapi Akoma Zi.

More albums followed, with more pop sound that helped her establish herself as a star in the Greek pop music scene. Among others, she got to work with many respectable Greek composers and singers like Giannis Parios , Vicky Moscholiou , Glykeria etc.
