Cypriots have demonstrated once again their solidarity towards their fellow citizens, during the “Cyprus Aid” concert, by contributing in kind for those in need, according to the organizers of the charity event.

People offered non perishable goods, medicine and other basic items, which will be distributed to individuals, families and other groups who have an immediate need.

The “Cyprus Aid” concert took place Monday in Nicosia with the participation of around 50 artists from Cyprus and Greece, who united their voices and art, expressing their solidarity to people who are faced with economic hardship.

In statements to CNA, Maria Papapetrou from the organising committee, said that “the people’s response to our call was greater than expected”, adding that people who attended not only contributed in kind, but also helped volunteers in transporting the goods in the warehouses.

“We filled six huge warehouses with food, basic items and clothing,” Papapetrou said.

She added that the goods collected will be delivered to social groceries, organized groups who supported the initiative, and individuals in need.

Singers from Greece and Cyprus who participated in CyprusAid included Lina Nicolacopoulou, Alkinoos Ioannides, Demetra Galani, Christos Thiveos, Christos Dantis, Anna Vissi and Evridiki.
