The Discipinary Committee of the Super League decided at 1.15 on Friday morning to award the AEK vs Panthrakikos game to the visitors woth a 3-0 score and deduct three points from AEK, confirming the Athens club’s relegation to the second division one round of games before the end of this season’s Super League.

AEK can and will appeal the decision, but it is not likely that will change in the second degree, that is the process of the appeals committee of the Hellenic Football Federation. Its verdict can be expected by Wednesday.

The efforts by AEK to discredit the referee report, saying that he should not have abandoned the game that stopped in the 87th minute after a pitch invasion by AEK fans, bore no fruit.

This means the Atromitos vs AEK game on Sunday is irrelevant. AEK is also to be deducted two points from next season, whichever division it is going to play at.

It took almost 12 hours for the disciplinary committee of the Super League to issue its verdict, while AEK fans had gathered outside the Super League premises from noon. At one point they even stopped traffic on Kifissias Avenue in protest.
