On a unexpected winters day in late march we only had two games as a result of the others being postponed which resulted in fourteen goals.
First Division
Cetinkaya Cinar 0 New Salamis 6
The first half ended 0-0 with New Salamis slightly being the better team. New Salamis did not wait long after the break to take the lead.In the 50th minute with a goal from Leon Mckenzie. Who also added a second minutes later when striker Deniz clashed with the Cinar keeper leaving leaving Leon to tap the rebound into an empty net. So when a shot from Deniz was parried by the Cetinkaya keeper Remzi on to the path of Leon to bang it in the back of the net for his hat trick.
Cetinkaya were trying to get back into the game and created chances but left themselves wide open at the back as a result New Salamis left back Vas ran the ball down the left wing before crossing for Richard Georgiou to score the fourth for the reds.
The fifth New Salamis goal came when Chris Benjamin beat the offside trap and shot pulling off a save from Cinars keeper who pushed it towards the red’s striker Deniz to tap it into an empty net. The sixth goal for New Salamis came late in the game a second for Richard Georgiou giving New Salamis a three point lead at the top with two games remaining versus Cetinkaya Cinar again and Olympia.
Rizokarpasso 2 Brotherhood 6
Brotherhood who really needed to win this game got off to a bad start when Rizokarpasso manager Dino Ippocratous who was making his first appearance of the season scored with a tap in. As the game was progressing Brotherhood were settling down and getting on top and so it was no surprise when straight after the break and within ten minutes they had scored three goals with the first from Paul Yiannakas and then two goals from Nick Orphanides.
Brotherhood scored another two with Glen Mcsherry and a Aaron Kennedy penalty.Rizokarpasso made it 5 -2 with a spectacular goal from their striker Leon Semper. The final and sixth goal of the game for Brotherhood came from Alfie Rogers who tapped the ball into the back of the net after a cross from Alex Stavrou. This win for Brotherhood lifts them to one point adrift of AEL and Olympia with all three clubs fighting to save themselves from relegation.
