Cyta, the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority will be offering free national calls on fixed phones to other Cyta subscribers – both fixed line and mobile – for the month of April in order to help alleviate the blow from the economic crisis. Cyta added that it would not be disconnecting any of its subscribers who have not been able to settle their bills because of the lack of liquidity in the economy following a two week closure of the banks. The organisation will review this decision on April 15, in the light of the situation at the time. Payment of bills by standing orders has been moved from March 29 to April 3 while Cyta is setting up a toll free helpline on 80008060 from April to help clients settle their bills and offer alternative solutions to facilitate them, it added. Cyta said it was launching a new mobile phone package for companies, Cytamobile-Vodafone Business Benefits offering discounts. It said this was the first of special packages being introduced to meet the changed needs of its clients. “Appreciating the seriousness of the situation, Cyta is looking at further measures to facilitate its clients during these difficult economic times,” it concluded
