The English School Nicosia announced that the Advanced Level Performance Systems (ALPS) has placed it in the top 5% of 1.251 schools and colleges for outstanding performance in AS and A2 examinations.
According to a press released issued Tuesday, ALPS is a performance analysis database tool used by approximately 1.200 schools and colleges in the UK (70% of all A levels taken in the UK).
It analyses student potential in terms of target grades, in external examinations, and their actual achievement. These target grades, according to the statement, are created from a UK database of approximately 1.000.000 AS and A2 level results from approximately 380.000 students.
“It is possible to surmise that our students` performance is outstanding from the very high percentages of A* and A grades achieved by our AS and A2 students, in the results released by the exam boards. However, the ALPS result shows our performance in relation to other schools` and also how much value we have added to our students` achievement- by students exceeding their target grades”, ’ said Ursula Pantelides, the school’s Assistant Head.
