Cyprus Tourism Organisation at the National Wedding Show
Birmingham 1-3 March, 2013
Cyprus, birthplace of Aphrodite, Goddess of Love, is a popular overseas weddings and honeymoon destination with just under 9,000 couples marrying on the island of love in 2012. The Cyprus Tourism Organisation exhibited at the National Wedding Show this weekend with a colourful stand. Visitors to the stand were offered a ‘bombonniera’ by our ‘bride’ and were invited to sample traditional soutjoukos, almonds and Cypriot fruit juices. Senior Tourist Officer from CTO Head Office, Antigoni Kapodistria, joined Costas Catsellis from the London office of CTO to man the stand and offer advice on arranging weddings and honeymoons in Cyprus.
The island was well represented at the exhibition with over 20 trade suppliers taking a stand, showing the broad range of first class hotels and services on offer. The municipalities of Ayia Napa/Protaras and Pafos also had stands as well as specialist tour operators. Over the course of the three-day show, there were approx. 10,000 visitors and the various Cyprus stands received a high volume of interest.
With over 300 days of sunshine a year, a wide choice of flights from all over the UK, simple procedures and competitive wedding packages available, the island’s popularity as a weddings and honeymoon destination is set to continue.
