Cyprus Police remain on alert on Monday, following Sunday’s second round of presidential elections.
Police Spokesman Andreas Angelides told CNA today that the Police are fully satisfied with yesterday’s operation to secure a smooth election process.
Angelides said that a crisis centre will operate today if necessary, like yesterday, and traffic will be monitored in the capital Nicosia and all other cities.
He expressed hope that there will be no problems.
Police Spokesman noted that during Sunday’s elections people showed a high sense of responsibility and maturity. “On our part we are fully satisfied with the operation” he said.
According to Angelides, around eight thousand people gathered last night at “Eleftheria Stadium” in Nicosia, where the investiture of the new President of the Republic took place. Another three thousand people, he said, watched the investiture on big screens placed outside the stadium.
