New ballot papers ordered for second round of presidential elections
Chief Returning Officer Andreas Assiotis has instructed the Government printing Offices to begin printing the new ballot papers for the second round of the Presidential Elections that will be held next Sunday, 24 February.

“According to today’s results, we will proceed with a run off election next Sunday, 24 February between Nicos Anastasiades and Stavros Malas”, said Assiotis as he announced the final official results.

Assiotis thanked all who worked during today’s voting, adding he is expecting “the same high level of dedication from everybody during the second round of voting on Sunday”.

During Sunday’s elections, a total of 453. 534 citizens, 200.591 of whom voted for right wing Democratic Rally party (DISY) leader Nicos Anastasiades, (45.46%) and 118,755 (26.91%) for Stavros Malas, who is backed by the left wing AKEL party.

Socialist EDEK-backed Giorgos Lillikas came in third with 24.93% of the votes
