Marcos has been drawn to face fourth seed Juan Martin del Potro in the first round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, an ATP World Tour 500 hard court tournament, which begins on Monday.

Del Potro is in a rich vein of form, reaching the Marseille quarter-finals this week, having won the Rotterdam title last week. Marcos has a winning 2-1 record against the No. 7-ranked del Potro, having won his past two meetings with the Argentine at the 2011 Australian Open and in the 2012 Sydney quarter-finals.

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer lead the stellar field in Dubai. In the same half as Marcos are Djokovic, seventh seed Andrea Seppi and eighth seed Mikhail Youzhny.

Marcos is also competing in the doubles with Belgium’s David Goffin. The first-time pairing will face top seeded Spaniards Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez in the first round.
