Man hit by train between Cheshunt and Broxbourne

A MAN, believed to be in his late 20s, has died after being hit by a train between Cheshunt and Broxbourne yesterday afternoon (February 12).

This has caused major delays to train services in both directions, according to Greater Anglia and National Rail, and no trains are expected on the line for an hour and a half.

A man who was at the station, and chose to remain anonymous, said: “I was just walking on to the platform. I didn’t see anything but I just heard the scream go up – it was terrible.”

A police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances. He added that they had received a call at 2.10pm and dealt with the incident within 50 minutes. The next of kin are due to be informed.
