Larnaca Airport tourist arrivals reach 2.4 million in 2012

Tourist arrivals at Larnaca International Airport recorded a stable increase of 3% in the past years.

In 2012, 2.464 million tourists arrived at Larnaca International Airport, compared with 2.392 million in 2011.

Figures released by the Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry showed that since 2009 arrivals of tourists at Larnaca International Airport were between 10% and 10.7%, which was recorded in 2010.

Most tourists arriving at Larnaca Airport are said to be British. In 2011, 34% of the city’s visitors were from the United Kingdom. The Germans come second with 11.4%, followed by the Russians with 7.5%.

Visitors from Greece reached 9.7%, whereas Scandinavians were around 5.8%.

However, the coastal city of Larnaca seems to have potentials of further developing rural tourism which in 2012 reached a 36.9%.
