Marcos advanced to the quarter-finals of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament on Thursday in Rotterdam after upsetting fourth seed Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-4.

In a controlled, aggressive display, Marcos broke Gasquet early in the first set and withstood three break back points to close out the opener. He then broke the Frenchman in the first game of the second set and comfortably served out victory in 76 minutes.

Marcos is through to the quarter-finals of this ATP World Tour 500 indoor tournament for the second time in five appearances. He will contest his second quarter-final of the season, having reached the Brisbane semi-finals in the first week of the season.

In the quarter-finals, Marcos will face his doubles partner, Grigor Dimitrov. Dimitrov defeated Nikolay Davydenko in the second round on Wednesday. He and Marcos were beaten in the first round of the doubles competition this week, and reached the third round of the Australian Open. It will be their second meeting of the season and Marcos will be looking to avenge the close defeat he suffered to Dimitrov in the Brisbane semi-finals.
