Next year will be a difficult one for tourism from Britain due to the economic crisis and the review of programmes by British tourist operators.
This was established during contacts held in London by a Cypriot delegation, headed by Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Neoklis Sylikiotis and Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) Chairman Alekos Orountiotis.
The delegation was in London for the ‘World Travel Market’.
According to an announcement, issued by the CTO, the delegation had a series of meetings with the main British Tourist Operators and airlines. During those meetings, the delegation reviewed the current year and the upcoming summer period.
The current year has been satisfactory, it was said, bearing in mind the global economic crisis, the London Olympic and Paraolympic Games and the Queen’s diamond jubilee.
During the meetings, ways of coping with the difficult situation in the medium and the long term periods were discussed.
After their visit to London, part of the delegation, headed by CTO Chairman, visited Amsterdam, where they met with Chinese Tourist Operators and tourist agents.
