CyBC is considering pulling out of the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest on cost grounds.
Daily Phileleftheros spoke to the chairman of the board, Makis Symeou, who confirmed that a meeting was to take place at which the possibility of pulling out was to be discussed.
He said that given the current economic climate some people might think it inappropriate for Cyprus to take part. Poland and Portugal have already said they would not be entering.
However, withdrawal is not supported by all members of the board.
Symeou suggested that if CyBC did take part. then no competition would be held for the song to represent the island but a singer would be asked to enter on Cyprus behalf, covering most of their own costs.
