Panathinaikos produced yet another disappointing display in the league to share a goalless draw with host Kerkyra on Corfu on Monday.
The Greens created no more than a couple of real chances, that went to waste, against a determined Kerkyra team that threatened Panathinaikos at various points during the game but could not beat the visitors’ keeper, Orestis Karnezis.
It was a point that the Corfu team thoroughly deserved, while Panathinaikos conceded its sixth draw in 10 Super League games this season.
The game’s only redeeming moment was the warm applause that Kekryra fans gave to Karnezis at the end of the game, after he was voted man of the match. Karnezis hails from Corfu.
The four Greek internationals of Panathinaikos (Karnezis, Loukas Vyntra, Nikos Spyropoulos and Lazaros Christodoulopoulos) will spend the night on Corfu and wait for the charter flight from Athens that will carry the rest of the national team to pick them up from Corfu airport on Tuesday and take them all to Dublin for Greece’s friendly against Ireland on Wednesday.
