President of the Republic Demetris Christofias departs Thursday for official visits to the Holy See and Paris.
According to an official statement, President Christofias departs Wednesday afternoon for the Vatican for an official visit during which he will have an audience with Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday, 25 October.
He will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou Marcoullis and the Director of the Office of the President, Christos Christofides.
He will also meet Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Pietro Evasio Bertone.
Before departing from the Holy See, President Christofias will visit the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and the Community of Sant`Egidio.
On 26 October, President Christofias will travel to Paris to meet French President Francois Hollande.
Within the framework of Cyprus’ Presidency of the European Council, President Christofias will inaugurate an exhibition at the Louvre on “Medieval Cyprus” which showcases important objects originating from the island’s Early Christian period until the end of the Venetian period from a large number of both Cypriot and French museums.
He returns home on October 27.
