AEL bounced back from their disappointing defeat to Fenerbahce last week by trouncing Ayia Napa 4-0 on Monday night to present new boss Jorge Costa his first win.
The win lifted the Cypriot title holders to within four points of league leaders APOEL, Anorthosis and AEK who all enjoyed victories on the weekend. Rui Miguel bagged two goals while there were also goals for Orlando Sa and Marios Nicolaou.
Apoel beat New Salamis 3-1,Anorthosis beat Olympiakos 3-1, AEK defeated Ethnikos1-0 and Omonia beat Enosis Paralimniou Neon2-0.
AEL, who saw the CFA tribunal rule in their favour last week following an appeal by Nea Salamina that Rui Miguel shouldn’t have played in a previous game due to a yellow card suspension, will next take on Ethnikos Achnas in the league before then flying out to Turkey to face Fenerbahce on Thursday.
