President of the Republic Demetris Christofias will visit Brussels on the 19thof September to discuss with the Presidents of the Commission, the European Council and the European Parliament the progress on the Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020.
CNA has learnt that the four Presidents will have a working lunch on the same day to discuss about the progress made so far as regards the achievement of an overall agreement on the EU budget for the next seven years.
The meeting takes place on the basis of Article 324 of the Treaty for a better coordination in regard to the ongoing negotiations on the MFF.
President Christofias has participated twice in such coordination meetings. The first time was in Brussels on the sidelines of the European Council in June, at the invitation of the Danish Prime Minister, and the second took place on July 3 in Strasbourg.
The Republic of Cyprus holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU until December.
