A 73-YEAR-OLD man living in the Nicosia area was attacked and his home burgled during the early hours of yesterday, police said.

While he was asleep a thief broke in and snatched his wedding ring off his finger and his cross and chain from round his neck. He also stole €70 from his shirt pocket and two state lottery tickets.

Before feeling, the thief locked the pensioner inside, police said. The elderly man was treated at Nicosia general hospital for cuts to his face.
