Carolina Pelendritou, the Cypriot athlete who won silver at the women’s 100m breastroke swimming category at the London Paralympic Games on Saturday, will be arriving home to a hero’s welcome at Larnaca airport this afternoon.
The Limassol Nautical Club will be hosting an event in Pelendritou’s honour on Saturday to celebrate her successful showing at the Paralympic Games.
Pelendritou became the first Cypriot Paralympian champion at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, where she won gold for the women’s 100metre breaststroke category. Pelendritou also took home a gold and silver medal apiece at the 2008 Beijing games.
