A growing number of Greek doctors are registering to practice in the UK, according to the British General Medical Council.
“From 2010 to 2011, there was a 29 percent increase in the number of doctors joining the register from Greece, up from 282 to 365,” the GMC said in a statement published by the Financial Times’ Alphaville blog.
“Since 2009, first-time registrations for doctors from Greece rose by 55 percent,” it said.
In comparison, the overall rise in doctors from the European Economic Area registering in the UK for the first time during this period was 16 percent.
