Eroglu on the Cyprus problem; He alleged that Anastasiades is not giving hopeful messages for the solution of the Cyprus problem
According to illegal Bayrak television (19.09.12), the Turkish Cypriot leader, Dervis Eroglu has paid a visit to the headquarters of the “Sonmezliler Local”, an “association” which was established by “war veterans and members of the Turkish Resistance Organization”.
Touching upon the Cyprus issue during his visit there, Eroglu said that the presidential candidate in “south Cyprus”, as he called the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiades, who is said to be one of the candidates, is not giving hopeful messages on the solution of the Cyprus problem.
He noted that the negotiations could continue following the presidential elections in the “south”, yet he added, that the Turkish Cypriot side was against maintaining the talks open-ended.
Referring to the UN Special Adviser Alexander Downer’s visit to the island, which will focus on the workings of the technical committees, Eroglu expressed disappointment over the fact that workings of the committees, regarding the confidence building measures, didn’t achieve a sufficient progress.
Eroglu also pointed out that strengthening the “TRNC” as a “state” and increasing the level of prosperity of the Turkish Cypriot “people”, were two vital duties whilst maintaining efforts towards the solution of the Cyprus problem.
