The EU’s next Multiannual Finanancial Framework 2014-2020 will be discussed today in Brussels in a meeting between the President of the Republic of Cyprus and the Presidents of the European Commission, the European Council and the European Parliament.

The four Presidents will have a working lunch at the Commission’s building

During which they will take stock on the ongoing negotiations for the achievement of an agreement on the Union’s next seven year budget.

The aim of the meeting, which is convened upon an initiative of President of the Commission Manuel Barroso, is to coordinate efforts so that an overall agreement on the MFF is reached by the end of the year, during the Cyprus EU Presidency.

The President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy has convened an extraordinary European Council on the 22nd and the 23rd of November in Brussels with the MFF being the only item on the agenda.

The achievement of an agreement by the end of the year is the top priority of the Cyprus EU Presidency.

The Republic of Cyprus holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU until December.
