A sudden summer downpour cooled down Nicosia on Wednesday afternoon.

The rain which fell forcefully on the capital for about half an hour in the afternoon was a welcome respite to the intense heat of recent days.

In statements she made to CNA Fire Service Spokesperson Liza Kemitzi said there were a few incidents reported in which firemen had to remove trees from roads, recover vehicles which had gotten stuck or clear out an overflow of water from basements.

However, she pointed out that all incidents concerned were minor.
