According to census data published by the National Statistical Service of Greece, the country’s population has decreased drastically within one year.

More specifically, the census survey held in May 2011 all over the country showcases that Greeks have decreased by one million. 2011 census proves that Greek citizens fell to 9,903,268 in contrast to former population numbers that numbered over 10 million reaching at its zenith even 11.

Specialists assume that the main reason for this significant drop may have been financial crisis which forced many Greek people, especially the young, to move to more stable countries.
