A Greek-Canadian woman drowned as she posed in her wedding dress in water at a park in Quebec, Canada.

Reports suggest that the 30 year old estate agent — identified as Maria Pantazopoulos — drowned after her dress got wet and she was dragged into the river near a ‘violently’ rushing waterfall in Canada.

Local media said the woman — who got married in early June — is thought to have been staging a “trash the dress” photoshoot, where a newlywed bride is pictured ruining her wedding outfit.

Photographer Louis Pagakis said he jumped in to try to save her, but could not stop her from drowning.

The woman’s body was recovered several hours later from the water, near the Dorwin Falls in Rawdon.
