An Air France jet flying to Beirut from Paris late Wednesday was diverted to Cyprus because of insecurity on the road between downtown Beirut and the airport, the airline said on its Twitter account.
The Airbus A330 plane first landed at Damascus airport to refuel and then went on to Larnaca in Cyprus. It will return to Paris Thursday afternoon, the airline said.
Air France said its two daily flights from Paris to Beirut will operate normally Thursday.
