Cyprus completes on Sunday its Olympic effort with the men’s cross country mountain bike event.
Twenty six year-old Cypriot athlete Marios Athanasiades will compete in the final which starts at 15.30 Cyprus time (12.30 GMT) inHadleigh Farm, in Essex.
Athanasiades is the first Cypriot cyclist to take part in that particular event of the Olympics.
The five kilometre circuit is situated on open hillside – a new concept for Mountain Bike events, which are typically held in forested areas.
The course has been specially designed to provide a physical and technical challenge for the world’s leading riders, with plenty of demanding climbs and descents.
